THE NEW MEANING OF LE CORBUSIER’S "MURAL NOMAD"

Since the opening of the Tapestry gallery "Boško Petrović" in 1999, the exhibitions have celebrated the anniversaries of "Atelje 61" (founded in 28 February 1961). The works from our collection have been presented at these exhibitions with the chronological review of the tapestriy creation, which is an important factor in understanding the development of the tapestry art in our country.
Although the Tapestry gallery "Boško Petrović" hasn’t worked since 2013 because of damages caused by humidity, "Atelje 61" – patiently waiting for the restauration of its exhibitional place – doesn’t give up of its intention to promote tapestry art at exhibitions in other institutions of culture in Serbia and abroad.
Celebrating the 56th Anniversary of its foundation and continuous work by this unlike exhibition, the tapestries are "set" on the walls and bastions of the Petrovaradin Fortress, where the "Atelje 61" is located, imitating the reality by virtual technology. It seams that Le Corbusier’s by-gone term "Mural Nomad", describing tapestry as an easely movable art, with this exhibition gets its new meaning.
